Significant Growth for 2012

The UK Concrete Show
2012 at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry [22-23 February 2012] has grown by 60%  over the successful, inaugural event in February 2011.  The event is a sell-out with with171 exhibitors attending with a large visitor turnout expected.

The 2012 show is the main opportunity in Europe for specialist contractors, ready mix producers, utilities, engineers and architects to see the very latest concrete products and services under one roof, and will feature 30 top class seminars in 3 theatres, one exclusively featuring “Dealing with Defects” which is one of the show themes, alongside a new virtual demo zone allowing visitors to see and hear products in action on a giant 15m2 LED screen with Dolby sound.

Other new features for 2012 include the Concrete Society Bookshop that will be offering a wide range of technical publications and literature for sale and enhanced catering facilities.

Returning Big Name Exhibitors joined by great new names

With companies like SIKA, Putzmeister, BASF, Grace, Armcon, Peri, Doka returning, many having taken additional space the Show has also attracted many new exhibitors for 2012 including such big names such as Tarmac, Aggregate Industries, Liebherr, Mapei, Bardon Concrete, CIFA, Halfen, Minova and Owens Corning.

Concrete related trade associations are very much behind the event with the Drilling and Sawing Association (DSA), Concrete Repair Association (CRA) and the Mineral Products Association among numerous organisations supporting the show with the CRA, supported by sister associations the Sprayed Concrete Association (SCA) and Corrosion Prevention Association (CPA), presenting the Concrete Renovation & Repair Centre, an organized group of 20 association members exhibiting together supported by a dedicated seminar theatre faeturing uniquely repair and renovation themed presentations.

New Product Launches at the show

A number of new prodyct launches are planned at the show including  ‘Big pHil’ from Siltbuster, (stand A10) a larger and more versatile version of their groundbreaking RCW (Roadside Concrete Washout) unit, that provides on-site capture, treatment and neutralisation of high pH cement laden washwater from a wide range of concreting plant equipment, including crane skips up to 2,000 litre capacity, concrete pumps and the like.

This newly developed, fully integrated system, is built on a 6m long transportable hooklift platform and is the latest in the range of innovative and popular carbon dioxide (CO2) pH adjustment systems from Siltbuster but with the added benefit of providing washwater recycling to further reduce the need to discharge water off-site.

Permaban latest innovation, branded Signature, will be seen at the show for the first time.  Inspired by road bridge comstruction, Signature takes a very different approach to traditional joint armouring.

It's unique half-hexagon shape prevents the wheels of materials handling vehicles from falling into the gap between the two edges of a joint. As a result there is no impact on either the joint or wheels, preventing damage and costly repairs to both.

Over 100 product groups on display at the 2012 show

After a succesful show in 2011, construction chemicals specialists, Oscrete returns in 2012 with it's recently launched Flowcast, which will be on display on their stand N9. This is a new, powder-based polymer/super plasticiser which is said to offer production benefits and significant cost savings for manufacturers of GRC [glass reinforced concrete] components.

Flowcast is claimed to combine a high performance super-plasticiser with fine polymers which provides early strength gain, improved flexural strength and surface finish, and faster de-moulding cycles than those provided by traditional GRC admixtures and polymers.

Unlike conventional liquid polymer/super plasticisers, Flowcast is a powder based admixture, the dry-pack powder system improves accuracy of dosing and reducing waste.

Exhibiting at Concrete Show for the first time is Liebherr - Great Britain Ltd (stand A9). The Company will be displaying one of their best-selling hydraulic truckmixers and, ever mindful of contributing to progress in controlling environmental impact, will also show one of their range of concrete recycling systems.

On stand C8, Lifting and Fixings Solutions Ltd, will be showing the latest Kodi Klips product that is claimed to be a next generation rebar tying system. It offers the construction and precast industry a faster and safer way to make rigid reinforcement mats and cages and is said to assist the user in meeting increasingly demanding construction and manufacturing time targets and standards by replacing the use of tying wire or welding.

Golz are back at the show on stand F3 showing the Slurryfox SFP 3L, a mobile slurry solution for the construction site. The slurry filter press SFP 3L is specially designed for the separation and filtration of concrete drilling & cutting slurry and is based, say Golz, on approved filter and chamber technology.

The concrete slurry can be pumped direct from your vacuum tank into the chambers. The Slurryfox can easily be moved around the construction site when fixed to a push cart.

Through its specialist Fibres Division, Maccaferri (Stand D17) will be showcasing the latest developments in concrete reinforcement technology and highlighting the benefits of its new, Wirand, steel and polymer, concrete fibre-reinforcement products in a diverse range of precast and insitu applications.

New to the UK Concrete Show is Camfaud (stand C5), said to be the largest independent concrete pump hire company in the UK offering mobile pumps, static pumps and stationary placing booms alongside other products. Recently added to their fleet is the Putzmeister SP11BUR mixer pump, suitable for pumping a variety of construction materials, considered by many to be the industry standard for free flowing and sprayed materials.

The pump has an integrated, lifting mixer and so can be used for pre-bagged and site batched material. The SP11 pumps have their own built in compressor for spray applications.

Concrete Protective products from the USA from Skudo

The recently formed Skudo (UK)
to market and distribute temporary protective products within the construction and marine industries, on behalf of Skudo Manufacturing Pty Ltd will be launching on stand C10 the Skudo Floor range here including a revolutionary new range of temporary flooring solutions which they say is a quantum leap forward in technology and innovation.

Another new exhibitor to the UK Concrete Show 2012 is the well known power tool and accessory company Robert Bosch on stand F1. Bosch will be showing their range of diamond accessories including discs and core cutters for all machines which are optimized for high cutting speed and meet the current user requirements for fast work progress.

It is said the “Speed Slotted” cutting segments reduce side friction and ensure fast removal of material dust. Bosch claim they have consistently expanded their range to offers the right diamond tool for every application and machine.

On stand B5 Peikko will be showing they have developed a unique business model for turnkey deliveries of foundations for onshore wind turbine steel towers. One of the key components of the foundation solution is Peikko’s new FatBar system, a technically advanced post-tensioning solution for tower foundations and other technically demanding applications.
